Preventative care
Preventative dental care plays an important role in maintaining healthy teeth and gums and identifying potential concerns before they become more complex. Regular dental visits allow our team to monitor changes in your oral health and provide personalized recommendations based on your individual needs.
At NVDI, preventative care combines professional dental exams, cleanings, diagnostic imaging when appropriate, and guidance for maintaining your oral health at home. We look for early signs of tooth decay, gum disease, wear, and other concerns that may otherwise go unnoticed. By taking a proactive approach to your dental health, we can help you protect your natural teeth and maintain a healthy, comfortable smile over the long term.
Dental Cleaning
Even with consistent brushing and flossing at home, plaque and tartar can build up in areas that are difficult to clean effectively. Professional dental cleanings help remove these deposits and support the health of both your teeth and gums.
During your visit, our dental team carefully cleans around the teeth and gumline while monitoring for signs of inflammation, bleeding, or other changes in your oral health. Your appointment is also an opportunity to discuss your home-care routine and receive personalized recommendations for brushing, flossing, and maintaining healthy gums. Regular professional cleanings, combined with good daily oral hygiene, can help reduce the risk of cavities and gum disease and keep your smile feeling clean and healthy.
Dental Exams
Regular dental exams allow us to monitor your oral health and identify potential concerns at an early stage. During an examination, your dentist evaluates your teeth, gums, bite, existing dental restorations, and other areas of your mouth for signs of decay, gum disease, damage, wear, or other changes that may require attention.
Depending on your needs, your visit may also include diagnostic imaging and other assessments to provide a more complete understanding of your oral health. If we identify an issue, we'll explain what we've found and discuss the treatment options available to you. Our goal is to give you the information you need to make informed decisions while helping you maintain healthy teeth and gums for the long term.
Dental X-Rays
Dental X-rays provide valuable information about areas of your teeth and supporting structures that cannot always be seen during a visual examination. They can help your dentist identify concerns such as decay between teeth, changes around tooth roots, bone levels, impacted teeth, and other conditions that may be developing beneath the surface.
At NVDI, diagnostic imaging is recommended based on your individual oral health needs, dental history, and the type of treatment being considered. The information gathered from your X-rays works together with your clinical examination to help our team develop an accurate understanding of your dental health. This allows us to identify concerns earlier and recommend treatment only when it is appropriate for your individual situation.
Root Canals
When the soft tissue inside a tooth becomes inflamed or infected due to deep decay, cracks, trauma, or other damage, root canal treatment may be recommended to preserve the natural tooth. Rather than removing the entire tooth, the procedure focuses on treating the affected tissue inside it.
During root canal treatment, the inside of the tooth is carefully cleaned and disinfected before being sealed to help protect it from further infection. Depending on the condition of the tooth, a dental restoration may also be recommended afterward to restore its strength and function. Our team will evaluate the affected tooth, explain the findings, and discuss whether root canal treatment or another option is most appropriate for your situation.
Periodontal Services
Healthy gums provide an important foundation for healthy teeth. Periodontal care focuses on preventing, identifying, and managing conditions that affect the gums and other supporting structures around your teeth. Signs such as bleeding gums, persistent inflammation, gum recession, or changes around the teeth may indicate that additional periodontal care is needed.
At NVDI, we assess the health of your gums as part of your overall dental care and recommend treatment based on the severity and type of concern identified. Depending on your needs, care may range from professional cleaning and periodontal therapy to more advanced treatment for gum recession or supporting tissues. Our goal is to help maintain a healthy foundation around your natural teeth while addressing periodontal concerns appropriately.
