If you require a gum graft, your doctor will likely use your own donor tissue to generate gum tissue where required. Normally, the donor graft is taken from the hard palate. These and other various gum procedures help alleviate various issues associated with gum recession, such as teeth sensitivity and bone loss and eventual tooth loss. Crown Lengthening
A crown lengthening procedure involves reshaping gum tissue, bone, or both to expose more of a tooth. Crown lengthening is a common procedure for patients with a “gummy smile,” where excessive gum tissue around upper teeth makes teeth appear short.
